TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hunting for takjil (light snacks, sweets, or drinks to break the fast) has become a cherished tradition as Ramadan approaches. This seasonal habit has sparked the rise of Ramadan markets offering takjil and iftar meals at every corner of the city.
In Batam, located in the Riau Islands Province, these markets are scattered throughout the area known as the 'World Muslim City.' Ardywinata, head of the Batam City Tourism and Culture Office, stated that nearly 100 Ramadan takjil markets are operating in 2026.
"This also serves as an opportunity for local MSMEs," Ardi noted on Monday, February 24, 2026.

1. Nagoya Ramadan Market
This market is situated near the Kampung Bule area in Nagoya, Batam. Every year, a dedicated Ramadan market appears at this location, offering a wide array of traditional snacks.
Not only is the area bustling with delicious food and drinks, but it also draws massive crowds at the start of Ramadan due to its prime location in Batam City’s shopping district. A diverse selection of Indonesian culinary staples is readily available here.
2. Tanjung Uma Takjil Market
Located not far from the Nagoya Market is the Tanjung Uma Ramadan Takjil Market. This specific market is nestled within residential areas where local residents sell their homemade goods. It distinguishes itself from other markets by offering a wide variety of authentic Malay cuisine, with a particular focus on fresh seafood.
3. Legenda Ramadan Market
Situated in one of the primary markets near residential hubs, Legenda Market regularly hosts its own Ramadan festivities. This venue is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere and exceptionally diverse food offerings.
4. MB2 Ramadan Market
The MB2 Ramadan Market is located adjacent to the Botania 2 Mall area. This market is conveniently set up within the parking lot of the Botania 2 Mall complex.
5. Bengkong Sukaramai Ramadan Market
In the Bengkong District of Batam City, this takjil market consistently draws large crowds of visitors. A vast selection of local dishes is offered to those breaking their fast.
6. SP Batu Aji Takjil Market

In the Sekupang District, the Cipta Puri Tiban Ramadan Market stands out as one of the most famous local destinations. This area consistently holds Ramadan markets every year and has earned a reputation for its comprehensive and varied snack selections.
