TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Before ringing in the Fourth of July, another big day for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift is coming a day earlier. The high-profile couple will reportedly tie the knot at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3.
While neither the athlete nor the pop star has issued an official statement, sources have begun revealing details of the wedding. According to the Associated Press, the festivities will kick off with an intimate rehearsal dinner on Thursday night. Page Six provided further details, reporting that Friday's reception will commence at 6:30 p.m. and is expected to wrap up at 2:00 a.m.
As for the guest list, Gulf News added that the 1,000-person attendee list includes an unexpected group: the NBA champion New York Knicks. Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Karl-Anthony Towns are all set to attend, adding a touch of amusing sporting irony for Travis Kelce, a big fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers whose favorite team was recently knocked out of the NBA playoffs by the Knicks.
Joining the athletic roster are Swift’s musical circle, some of whom have already been spotted arriving in Gotham City. Ed Sheeran was seen having a meal with Aaron Dessner at Saratoga Lake, while "Espresso" singer Sabrina Carpenter was spotted grabbing pizza in the city. The two are reportedly on the guest list, alongside Camila Cabello, Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Zoë Kravitz, the Haim sisters, Suki Waterhouse, and Gigi Hadid, among others.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has stopped short of making an official announcement regarding the grand wedding, though he noted that "we are fully prepared." He also joked in an X post for New Yorkers to stay cool during the current heat, captioning it, "Especially if you’re (hypothetically) having your wedding at MSG this weekend."
That remark goes hand in hand with reports that security around Madison Square Garden has been significantly tightened ahead of the weekend. Additional measures have reportedly been implemented on-site, including strict orders for staff not to use or carry mobile phones while on duty during the ongoing preparations.
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift first announced their engagement via an Instagram post in August. If the reports prove true, the couple will join a select group of couples who have exchanged vows at Madison Square Garden, including singer Sly Stone and actress Kathy Silva back in 1974.
