TEMPO.COJakarta - Tech company Meta is preparing a scheduled messaging feature for WhatsApp, one of the most requested features by users. Signs of this feature's development were revealed in the app's latest beta version.

As reported by WABetaInfo, references to scheduled messages were found in WhatsApp's TestFlight beta update. This finding suggests Meta is building the foundation for the feature's imminent release.

According to the report, the feature is "currently still in development and not yet available for beta testing." Although it hasn't been tested by users, WABetaInfo shared a screenshot of the Group Info interface, which displays a "Scheduled Messages" menu, located directly below the "Media, links and docs" and "Starred" options.

In recent years, scheduled messaging has become a common feature in various messaging apps like Telegram and iMessage. However, Meta hasn't yet introduced it on WhatsApp, leading some users to seek alternative solutions, including using the Shortcuts app.

It's not yet known whether the feature on WhatsApp will support an option like Telegram's "Repeat," which allows messages to be sent automatically at regular intervals, serving as reminders for routine needs.

Nevertheless, this news is a breath of fresh air for WhatsApp users. Once development is complete, 9to5Mac reports that the feature will be rolled out to a select number of beta testers, who can provide initial feedback and reports based on their experiences, before it is officially released to the public.
