TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad appointed Ahmad Sahroni as Deputy Chair of Commission III from the NasDem Party, replacing Rusdi Masse Mappasessu. The two had swapped positions when Sahroni was suspended for six months by the House Ethics Council following his controversial remarks.
Dasco stated that Sahroni's appointment was based on a letter from the NasDem Party faction leadership, number FNasdem107/DPR RI/ii/2026, dated February 12, 2026, regarding the change in the name of the deputy chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives.
"Ahmad Sahroni will be appointed as Deputy Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives, replacing Rusdi Masse," Dasco stated during a plenary meeting in the Commission III meeting room at the House Complex in Jakarta on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
In addition to Dasco, the plenary meeting was also attended by Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, his deputies, Dede Indra Permana, and Sari Yuliati. Dasco then asked whether the appointment of Sahroni's new position could be approved in the forum.
"As the meeting chair, I will ask the members of Commission III of the House of Representatives whether Ahmad Sahroni can be approved for appointment as Deputy Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives?" said the Gerindra Party politician.
The members of Commission III in attendance then gave their approval, followed by a gavel bang by the meeting chair. After being inaugurated, Sahroni shared his impressions of his return to Senayan.
Sahroni expressed his gratitude to Dasco, Commission III, and the Constitutional Court (MKD). Sahroni also expressed his hope for better performance in the future.
"Thank you, Mr. Chair and friends. It feels strange to see each other again," he said.
On Friday, August 29, 2025, NasDem Party legislator Ahmad Sahroni was transferred from his position as Deputy Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives for the 2024-2029 term. Sahroni was reassigned to become a member of Commission I of the House of Representatives.
The transfer decision was stipulated in a letter numbered F. NasDem. 758 /DPR-RI/VIII/2025. Based on a copy of the document received by Tempo, the transfer decision was stated to be based on the results of a meeting of the leadership of the NasDem Party faction in the House of Representatives.
Two days later, the NasDem Party suspended Ahmad Sahroni from his position as a member of the NasDem Party faction, effective September 1, 2025. This decision was announced by NasDem Party Secretary General Hermawi Taslim. Hermawi stated that the statement by the NasDem Party faction member of the DPR, which had offended and hurt the public's feelings, was a deviation from the party's ideals.
Rusdi Masse has resigned from his DPR membership and the NasDem Party leadership. He has now moved to the Indonesian Solidarity Party, led by Kaesang Pangarep.
