TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Apple is reportedly planning to raise the prices of the iPhone 17 lineup in the near future. The company has maintained the same prices since the lineup's launch in September 2025.
As reported by Gizmochina on Saturday, August 8, citing ANTARA, the information came from technology leaker Fixed Focus Digital, who said that Apple could potentially announce a price increase for the iPhone 17 as early as tomorrow, Monday, August 10.
Apple is reportedly cutting production of the current iPhone 17 lineup by 15 to 30 percent. However, information regarding the timing and magnitude of the price increase cannot be confirmed.
Unlike a number of other products, the iPhone 17 line is one of Apple's products that has not experienced a price increase so far. Amid rising memory component costs, Apple raised prices on MacBooks, iPads, and even the Apple TV 4K in late June.
The price increase is also related to the growing demand for memory in artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.
The potential for an iPhone 17 price increase grows as Apple faces limited RAM supply for its next-generation phones, the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the foldable iPhone rumored to be introduced this year.
The iPhone 17 production cuts are said to help Apple allocate limited components for the next-generation device. Earlier this year, it was reported that Apple had adjusted the production of the iPhone 17.
Conversely, the price increase for the iPhone 17 is also believed to be part of Apple's strategy in anticipation of potential price hikes for the next generation of phones.
Some analysts estimate that the iPhone 18 Pro could be priced starting at US$1,399 or more, a significant increase compared to the initial price of the iPhone 17 Pro which reached US$1,099.
Apple is expected to introduce only the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models, as well as the Ultra variant, this fall. The regular iPhone 18 model is rumored to launch in spring 2027.
If the iPhone 17 price increase does happen, the move could help Apple maintain profit margins while reducing the price gap with the next-generation iPhone lineup.
To date, the official price of the iPhone 17 at Apple Stores remains the same as when it was first launched. At some retailers, the regular iPhone 17 variant can still be found for around US$725 to US$799, or the equivalent of Rp12.9 million to Rp14.2 million, depending on the configuration and the seller.
