TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - This year, several of Bali's popular tourist spots are offering special promotions and events for travelers celebrating the 80th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day.
From live music extravaganzas to discounted tickets, here is a guide to what's happening in Bali.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park

This iconic landmark in Ungasan, Badung Regency, is hosting a "people's party" from August 13-17, 2025. The event is designed to entertain visitors and honor Indonesia's Independence Day. Key highlights include:
- Culinary Events: A diverse array of local and Nusantara dishes will be available, alongside a showcase of products from various regions of the archipelago.
- Music Extravaganza: The peak celebration will take place on Sunday, August 17, 2025, with a music event featuring a variety of genres, from pop and dangdut to electronic dance music. The lineup includes renowned national artists such as The Changcuters, Pamungkas, King Nassar, and Dipha Barus, as well as local Balinese musicians.
- Cultural Performances: The Nusantara Stage will host cultural displays from the provinces of Banten and West Sumatra.
Bali Zoo
For local residents, the Bali Zoo is offering discounted entrance tickets. At this conservation and education center, visitors can get up close with approximately 600 animals from 60 species native to Asia, Africa, and Indonesia. The zoo provides various activities, including animal observation, feeding sessions, and a special children's water park.
The promotional ticket price for tourists with a Bali identity card (KTP) is Rp80,000. The normal prices are Rp110,000 for adult residents and Rp85,000 for children. For all other domestic tourists, the regular price remains Rp140,000 for adults and Rp100,000 for children.
“This promo can be enjoyed from August 10-31, 2025,” said Emma Kristiana Chandra, the Head of Public Relations at Bali Zoo, as reported by Antara on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
Bedugul Botanical Gardens
Located in Tabanan Regency, about 60 kilometers from Denpasar City, the Bedugul Botanical Gardens is another destination offering a special Independence Day promotion. Established in 1959, the gardens are situated in a cool, elevated area at an estimated 1,550 meters above sea level, covering 157.5 hectares.
- Exploration Package: The management is offering a "garden exploration" package for only Rp80,000, a significant drop from the original price of Rp175,000 per person. This offer, valid only on Sunday, August 17, 2025, includes an educational module, lunch, and the cost of a shuttle bus.
- Bike Rental: Additionally, there is a special promotion for manual bicycle rentals at Rp17,000 for the first 17 people.
