TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that undisbursed loans or idle banking credits reached Rp2,506.47 trillion in January 2026, or 22.65 percent of the available credit ceiling. This figure marks an increase from December 2025, which saw Rp2,439.2 trillion or 22.12 percent of the available ceiling.

In a press conference following the Board of Governors' Meeting on Thursday, February 19, 2026, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo stated that demand for banking financing can still increase, particularly to optimize unused loan facilities or undisbursed loans.

Meanwhile, on the supply side, banking financing capacity remains adequate. This is reflected in the Liquid Assets to Third Party Funds (AL/DPK) ratio of 27.54 percent and a 13.48 percent year-on-year growth in third-party funds in January 2026.

Overall, banking credit grew by 9.96 percent year-on-year in January 2026. This position marked an increase compared to December 2025, which grew by 9.69 percent year-on-year.

"The positive development of this credit is supported by the increased economic activity, the relaxation of Bank Indonesia's monetary and macroprudential policies, and the realization of government priority programs," said Perry.

He believes prospects for credit growth remain strong, influenced by both demand and supply factors.

Perry detailed that January credit growth was supported by investment credit, which grew by 22.38 percent year-on-year; working capital credit, which grew by 4.13 percent year-on-year; and consumer credit, which grew by 6.58 percent year-on-year. "Bank Indonesia predicts 2026 credit growth in the range of 8-12 percent," Perry said.

Meanwhile, state lender Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) President Director Hery Gunardi predicted credit growth would remain in the single-digit phase, below 10 percent in 2026. According to Hery, projected credit demand has not yet strengthened.

Hery said purchasing power has not fully recovered and business expansion remains selective. "In other words, we are entering a phase of normalizing credit growth, not a crisis but also not aggressively expansive," he said in an online "Economic Outlook 2026" webinar on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
