TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy House Speaker (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad expressed concern about the five missing journalists who were reporting near Mount Anak Krakatau. He urged the relevant agencies to conduct an all-out search.
He said that his team is monitoring the search efforts on the ground in order to quickly determine the location of the five journalists. He hopes that the all-out search efforts will yield the best possible results.
"We have urged the relevant agencies and are monitoring the maximum efforts being made so that the status of our colleagues can be clarified immediately," said Dasco at the parliament complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, as quoted by ANTARA.
Meanwhile, Deputy House Speaker Saan Mustopa urged all parties to pay attention to workplace safety factors. He noted that the eruption posed significant risks to both the public and members of the press covering the event.
He also urged the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) to continue the search earnestly, as the family and other parties await the latest updates. "DPR will continue to urge all relevant parties to make earnest and maximum efforts to locate them," said Saan.
Earlier, the Banten Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Hengki, personally led coordination with the joint search and rescue team to locate five journalists who had lost contact while covering Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait, Pandeglang, since Monday, September 7, and ensured that the rescue team optimized the entire search operation.
In his directives, Regional Police Chief Hengki emphasized the importance of optimizing the entire search operation to ensure it proceeds smoothly and safely, with the safety of all victims as the top priority.
"The entire deployed team must ensure readiness and exert maximum effort within this integrated SAR team," he said at the National SAR Command Post in Pandeglang on Wednesday.
