TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairwoman of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, commented on President Prabowo Subianto’s upcoming address at the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, calling it “a highly anticipated moment in the past 10 years.”
According to Puan, no Indonesian president has attended the UN General Assembly in the last decade. She said Prabowo’s participation will be a source of pride for all Indonesians.
“We hope that President Prabowo's speech will bring a refreshing sense of pride,” Puan remarked at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Monday, September 22, 2025.
She added that the speech is expected to cover various global issues, possibly including humanitarian concerns in Palestine.
“Maybe one of the issues will be related to Palestine; I also do not know what he will discuss,” Puan said, as quoted by Antara.
President Prabowo is scheduled to deliver his speech during the General Debate of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly at 9:00 a.m. local time (20:00 WIB) in New York.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed that Prabowo will speak third, following the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the President of the United States, Donald Trump. He emphasized that this year’s UN General Assembly will be a significant moment for Indonesia.
