TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) released the latest death toll from the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) today, 6:48 p.m. Jakarta time. The total number of fatalities thus far has reached 47.
Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Berton SP Panjaitan, in an official statement in Jakarta on Saturday, stated that the victims were identified in Manggarai Regency (24), East Manggarai (17), Sikka (3), Ngada (1), and Ende (1).
"In addition to these victims, officers are evacuating and providing medical treatment to injured victims," he said.
Regarding the number of damaged buildings, he stated that a total of 157 houses suffered severe damage, 41 moderate damage, and 148 minor damage.
Public facilities were also damaged, including 87 educational facilities, 18 health facilities, five places of worship, six offices, and several other public facilities.
BNPB has delivered food and other assistance to the quake-hit region. Some aid was distributed through a logistics warehouse in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"Meanwhile, from Jakarta, BNPB also delivered aid through the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base Operations, with a total of 50,000 aid packages weighing 275 tons. Currently, 10,500 aid packages have just arrived at the base operations, which were received by the Cabinet Secretary," he said.
He said that the shakings were also felt by residents of Bima Regency and City, West Nusa Tenggara Province, and Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi Province.
He explained that the situation in Bima Regency and City generally remains conducive. The Bima City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is collecting data and verifying the situation on the ground.
The BNPB Operations Control Center received reports in the Selayar Islands, where the local BPBD has set up evacuation posts in three locations.
"The evacuation centers are spread across Pasirmarannu, Pasilambena, and Takabonerate Districts," said Berton SP Panjaitan.
