TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In Anaheim, California, thousands of Disney fans flocked to join the 'D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event,' as the three-day festivities kicked off on Friday, August 14, 2026, local time.
But the commotion doesn't stop there, as all over the world, fandoms old and novel await with bated breath for the most exciting part of the night: Disney Entertainment Showcase. Held at Honda Center on Friday, the showcase houses exclusive sneak peeks, star-studded performances, and project announcements from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and more.
The showcase was hosted by Loki actor Ke Huy Quan and Zootopia's Ginnifer Goodwinn. Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro joined them on stage to inaugurate the event. "We have new stories coming, experiences that will take your breath away," he said.
New MCU Projects
Three new projects were presented by Kevin Feige himself. He was first joined by Paul Bettany and James Spader to tease a first look at the trailer and poster for VisionQuest, a Marvel Television original series coming to Disney+ on October 14, 2026. The show will follow a rebooted Vision as he "consults the AI personas embedded in his programming," including Ultron.
A new special look for the eagerly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday was also presented, as Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, and Robert Downey Jr. joined Feige on stage. The movie

Kingdom Hearts Original TV Series
Fans of the beloved game franchise, Kingdom Hearts, are in for a delightful surprise, as the development for an original anime series has been greenlit for Disney Channel and Disney+. The series will celebrate the game characters while expanding the universe of Kingdom Hearts, created in partnership with the game creator Tetsuya Nomura.
Star Wars
Production studio Lucasfilm announced two new Star Wars projects. At D23, the studio debuted a teaser trailer for Season 2 of Ahsoka, with an exclusive premiere on Disney+ on January 20, 2027.
Meanwhile, Ryan Gosling took the stage with director Shawn Levy to talk about the new Star Wars installment, Star Wars: Starfighter. The film will hit theaters May 28, 2027.
Season 3 of Percy Jackson Series
The cast of the Disney+ adaptation of the popular book series Percy Jackson got on stage to tease Season 3 of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, which premieres on November 20 this year.
The season will introduce fresh faces alongside the recurring cast, including Ming Na Wen, who will play the Greek goddess Hera.
A Long List of Sequels
From animated films to live-action projects, the D23 showcase was saturated with announcements of sequels, starting with Lilo & Stitch 2, a second installment of the blockbuster live-action film Lilo & Stitch. The movie is scheduled to enter production in Hawai'i later this year, with a release slated for May 26, 2028.
Other live-action projects presented at D23 include Tangled and Oswald.
Tangled is a live-action retelling of the massively successful Disney animated film of the same name. Currently filming in Spain, the movie is scheduled to open in theaters March 31, 2028.
Meanwhile, Oswald is an all-new "live-action animated hybrid series" based on the classic character Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The series will premiere on Disney+ February 17, 2027.
From Pixar camp, CCO Pete Docter took the stage to announce the third installment of the Supers family, Incredibles 3, set to release exclusively in theaters on June 16, 2028.
Besides this, Docter also unveiled a new look for Coco 2, with new concept art of Miguel as a teenager. The sequel will hit cinemas sometime in November 2029.
Disney also announced several other sequels, including Zootopia 3, which will focus on the arrival of birds. The release date will be announced at a later date.
Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell also came on stage to promote Frozen 3, coming November 24, 2027. Meanwhile, the Ice Age franchise is announcing the Ice Age: Boiling Point, releasing exclusively in theaters February 5, 2027.
What Other Projects Were Announced?
The brand-new trailer for Disney's The Bluey Movie was unveiled during the D23 showcase, with release date August 6, 2027. Meanwhile, Pixar announced brand-new original movies Ghost Market and Gatto, coming March 2028 and March 5, 2027, respectively.
Ghost Market introduces 'Ono Market, which serves "lost spirits, stuck between life and death," while Gatto follows a black cat, Nero, voiced by Mark Ruffalo.
A new Disney animated film, Clay, was also announced, slated for a November 2028 release.
