TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto announced a budget increase for the free nutritious meals program in 2026. He said the government will allocate Rp335 trillion from the State Budget (APBN) for this priority initiative.

"The budget for the free nutritious meals program in 2026 is allocated at Rp335 trillion," Prabowo said while delivering the financial note at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Previously, the government set an indicative budget of Rp217.86 trillion for the National Nutrition Agency, which oversees the program. The 2026 allocation marks an increase of about 53.78 percent.

According to Prabowo, the budget will cover 82.9 million beneficiaries, including students, pregnant women, and toddlers, through nutrition fulfillment service units.

"We build an excellent generation for our children through the free nutritious meals program. An excellent generation is born from a healthy body with fulfilled nutrition," he said.

Prabowo claimed the program’s distribution could quickly eliminate stunting and create a positive ripple effect across society.

"It will create hundreds of thousands of new job opportunities and empower farmers, fishermen, breeders, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in their fields," he said.

In the 2025 State Budget, the government initially allocated Rp 71 trillion for the program, later adding Rp100 trillion, bringing the total managed by the National Nutrition Agency to Rp171 trillion.

In the Macroeconomic Framework and Fiscal Policy Principles (KEM-PPKF) 2026 document, the government proposed Rp217.86 trillion for the agency. Of this amount, Rp7.45 trillion is for management support, and Rp210.4 trillion is for the national nutrition fulfillment program.

This allocation surpasses the proposed 2026 budget for the Ministry of Defense at Rp167.4 trillion. The Police received Rp 109.6 trillion, the Ministry of Health Rp104.3 trillion, and the Ministry of Social Affairs Rp76 trillion.
