TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The first half of the Independence Cup 2025 match between the Indonesian U-17 national team and Uzbekistan ended 1-0 in favor of the young Garuda squad. The game took place at the Utama Sumatera Utara Stadium in Deli Serdang on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Coach Nova Arianto made several changes for the match against Uzbekistan. Dafa Al Gasemi started as goalkeeper. In defense, Mathew Baker was benched, while Azizu Milanesta, Dafa Zaidan El Fikri, and I Putu Panji played as center backs.

The midfield featured the duo Nazriel Alfaro and Noha Oliver Patar Pohan. Up front, the attacking trio consisted of Aaron Thomas, Dimas Adi, and Rafi Rasyiq.

Uzbekistan coach Sergei Chigodaev fielded Olimjo Shamuratov as goalkeeper, with Islom Ravshanov leading the midfield to support the attacking trio of Akhrorbek Ravshanbekov, Laziz Abruaimov, and Tokhirov Khabibuloh.

Indonesia started aggressively, pressing with a high defensive line from the first whistle. In the sixth minute, Rafi Rasyiq received a through ball from Aaron Thomas inside the penalty area, but his shot went wide.

By the tenth minute, Uzbekistan began to dominate possession, but Indonesia’s zonal marking and deep defensive line made it difficult for them to break through. The ball was largely contested in midfield.

Indonesia opened the scoring in the 15th minute through a counter-attack from the right side. Dimas Adi Prasetyo received a pass inside the penalty box, evaded Shamuratov, and calmly slotted the ball into the net. The score became 1-0 for Indonesia.

Uzbekistan responded with increased pressure, but Indonesia launched another counter-attack four minutes later. Aaron Thomas found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his shot was blocked by a defender.

In the 25th minute, Akhrorbek Ravshanbekov threatened Indonesia’s goal with a run from the left, but Dafa Al Gasemi blocked his cross. Laziz Abduraimov had a chance in the 37th minute with a header from a scramble in front of the goal, but Putu Panji cleared it.

Few opportunities came in the final minutes of the first half. Rafi Rasyiq attempted a long-range shot, but it went over. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.
