TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi announced that preparations for Indonesia's 80th Independence Day ceremony at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta are nearly complete.
"Alhamdulillah, we have just finished the second rehearsal. Certainly, we noticed that it is getting closer to perfection compared to yesterday. I would say it's about 70 percent," said Prasetyo at the Merdeka Palace on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
Prasetyo mentioned that several things need to be tidied up, for example, the timing between one performance and another. Additionally, the interval between the fighter aircraft attractions needs to be perfected.
"We want to arrange the time and coordinates to be much more precise to make it better and enjoyable to watch," Prasetyo said.
The Chair of the Central Leadership Council of the Gerindra Party explained that the committee also provides an entertainment stage outside the Merdeka Palace for the people's party. This stage is provided for the public who are unable to attend the ceremony at the Merdeka Palace.
"Or a place where people who are unable to enter the Merdeka Palace complex can still follow the entire series of activities," he said. "But of course, there we provide several places to prevent boredom while waiting."
Today, the organizers of Indonesia's 80th Independence Day ceremony held a rehearsal for the moments of the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence and the lowering of the Red and White flag in front of the Merdeka Palace on August 13, 2025.
Today's rehearsal involved the Flag Raising Troop (Paskibraka), who will be confirmed as the national Paskibraka in 2025. In addition to the national Paskibraka candidates, the rehearsal included Indonesian Air Force aircraft, including F-16s and helicopters.
About 76 potential Paskibraka members are participating in the rehearsal at the Palace. Prasetyo noticed that there are still shortcomings in these potential Paskibraka members. One of them, he said, is their movements, which are not yet perfect when viewed from the side.
"To the layman, it might look okay. But for those with experience, there are still a few imperfections," said Prasetyo.
Prasetyo is an alumnus of Taruna Nusantara High School in Magelang, which uses a semi-military educational approach.
In addition to posture, Prasetyo also sees the lack of readiness in the concentration of the potential Paskibraka members.
"And sometimes there are concentration issues. When hearing the commands, some are ready, while some are a fraction of a second late," he said.
The rehearsal for the Indonesian Independence Day commemoration ceremony at the Merdeka Palace will continue until August 14.
