TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno revealed that economic turnover in the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout area in Central Jakarta reached Rp2 trillion during the peak night of Jakarta's 499th Anniversary celebrations.
"Tonight, the economic turnover around the Hotel Indonesia (HI) area exceeds Rp2 trillion," Rano said at the peak celebration of Jakarta's 499th Anniversary at the HI Roundabout in Central Jakarta on Saturday evening, June 27, 2026.
He added that thanks to the event, hotels around the HI Roundabout were fully booked. Furthermore, shopping centers around the HI Roundabout, including Tanah Abang Market and Thamrin City, were also packed with shoppers.
"With the events held here, Jakarta also received an increase in tourist visits," Rano explained.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that during this year's Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr celebrations, economic turnover in the capital reached Rp75 trillion.
According to him, this high economic turnover is what has enabled Jakarta to survive and thrive despite global economic pressures.
Pramono also hopes that with the capital city's resilience amidst the current global pressures, several flagship education programs, including the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP), the Jakarta Excellent Student Card (KJMU), and others, can continue without budget cuts.
He also emphasized his desire to make Jakarta a safe, comfortable city that brings happiness to its residents.
"That's what we will do because I believe that for less fortunate residents, their children and families will be better off if they have the opportunity to receive the highest possible education. We will send them through the LPDP (Pension Fund Institution for Indonesia)," Pramono said.
