TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) raided a hajj travel agency office today, Thursday, August 14, 2025. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the search was linked to the alleged corruption case of the 2023-2024 Hajj quota.

"Today, the team conducted a search at one of the private firm's offices," Budi said in a written statement on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

The anti-graft agency officer urged the travel firms to cooperate in the raid, as it's part of the investigation process necessary to discover evidence. "Let's ensure there are no uncooperative parties or any attempt to destroy evidence," he said.

KPK Conducted Search on Ministry Office

The raid on the travel agency office was not the first of its kind in this hajj quota corruption case. Previously, the KPK had raided two locations: the Ministry of Religious Affairs office at Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat and a house in Depok on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

During the raid in Depok, KPK confiscated a car as well as several assets. Meanwhile, at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Budi said the KPK confiscated several documents and electronic evidence. "KPK expresses appreciation and gratitude to the Ministry of Religious Affairs for their cooperative assistance throughout the process," Budi said in a written statement on Wednesday night, August 13, 2025.

Travel Agencies Profited off the Additional Hajj Quota

KPK said around 100 hajj and umrah travel agents had benefited from the additional 20,000 regular hajj quotas obtained by the Indonesian government from Saudi Arabia.

"The quota distribution was quite extensive, with larger travel agencies likely to receive a larger portion. While smaller travel agencies received 10 or even less. It depends on the travel agency," said Acting Deputy of Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu at the Red and White KPK building in South Jakarta on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Meanwhile, KPK Chair Setyo Budiyanto mentioned a number of travel firms benefiting from the hajj quota practice, albeit stopping short of revealing the exact figure. "But at least there are some agencies that can be categorized as large, medium-sized, and also some small travel agencies," he said when met at UGM campus in Yogyakarta on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

When asked if the number of hajj and umrah travel agencies that have benefited is more than 10, Setyo did not deny it. "Yes, more or less, it's around that number," he said.
