TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Deputy Minister of the State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro responded to the promise made by the police to promptly reveal the mystery behind the death of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs diplomat Arya Daru Pangayunan. Juri Ardiantoro stated that the government urges the National Police to resolve the case quickly.
"The police will surely work hard to reveal the truth. But we cannot force them to produce quick results," said Juri at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Juri mentioned that the police need a considerable amount of time, as they have to work meticulously in investigating the cause of Arya Danu's death with his head wrapped in tape. "Deciding from the results of this investigation also takes time," he said.
The former Deputy Head of the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka National Campaign Team also entrusted the police with this task. "So, we entrust the police to reveal and handle this case as best as they can."
For over a week, the death of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs diplomat Arya Daru Pangayunan continues to pose question marks. Suspicions regarding the cause of the diplomat's death are being thoroughly investigated.
The place where Arya Daru passed away was a boarding house named Guest House Gondia, located at 22 Jalan Gondangdia Kecil, Menteng, Central Jakarta. Arya Daru was found dead on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2025, after his wife, who lived in Yogyakarta, called the boarding house caretaker to check on her husband's condition as she couldn't reach him.
According to the investigator's statement, the caretaker had indeed checked Arya Daru's room that night as per the request of his wife, who lived in Yogyakarta. This was because the victim's phone was turned off when his wife tried to reach him.
Separately, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the Jakarta Metropolitan Police is diligently investigating Arya Danu's death.
Listyo mentioned that forensic laboratory tests are underway, and the investigators are awaiting the results. He stated that the conclusion of the investigation must be based on scientific crime investigation.
"My subordinates, especially those at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, are working hard. Hopefully, we will have the results soon," said Listyo when approached at the Indonesian Police University, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
