TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi aims to issue a Presidential Regulation regarding ride-hailing services, specifically online motorcycle taxis (ojol), by late August or early September 2026.
For the time being, he stated that he would personally lead the harmonization process for the presidential regulation once the measure has been finalized in conjunction with the House of Representatives (DPR).
"We are targeting the end of this month—or at the latest, early next month—to issue it," said Prasetyo following a meeting with DPR at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He also expressed his gratitude to the DPR for their ongoing coordination with the government on the presidential regulation. He noted that, in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's directive, the drafting of the regulation must be finalized as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that rates for ride-hailing services—whether for passengers, food, or goods—have already been discussed and modeled. Therefore, according to him, these matters now simply require harmonization by the government.
He also asked everyone to be patient while the Presidential Regulation on ojol is drafted. He further expressed hope that the regulation would function effectively once implemented.
"There will still be one more meeting with the ministries, and another meeting with online motorcycle taxi organizations and platform operators," said Dasco.
Previously, the Garda Indonesia Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers Association assessed that the government-issued regulations regarding revenue sharing between online motorcycle taxi drivers and platform companies signaled that state policy was beginning to have a tangible impact on the drivers' economic well-being.
Previously, drivers received 80 percent of trip revenue, while the platform provider took a 20 percent share. According to Presidential Regulation Number 27 of 2026, which concerns the Protection of Online Transport Workers, drivers now receive 92 percent of the revenue, while platform providers receive a maximum of eight percent.
"This is a significant signal that state policies are beginning to have a tangible impact on the economic lives of online transport drivers," said Raden Igun Wicaksono, Chair of the Garda Indonesia Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers Association, on Friday, as quoted by ANTARA.
