TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visited India to attend the 18th BRICS Summit. Prabowo landed at Air Force Station (AFS) Palam, New Delhi, on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 22.00 local time.
The Gerindra Party chair will attend the BRICS Summit which will take place on September 12-13, 2026. This is the second time Prabowo has attended the BRICS Summit since Indonesia became a full member in January 2025. Previously, Prabowo also attended the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in July 2025.
According to the Presidential Secretariat, President Prabowo's participation in the 18th BRICS Summit as a full member is part of Indonesia's efforts to strengthen its active role in multilateral cooperation.
"This participation also reflects Indonesia's commitment to encourage the formation of a more balanced, inclusive, and greater space for developing countries in the global economic order," the release stated.
The Presidential Secretariat announced that, during the 18th BRICS Summit in India, leaders of the member countries will discuss several strategic agendas aimed at strengthening cooperation among developing countries. The meeting is also expected to drive concrete steps to strengthen collaboration in food, energy, development financing, and trade.
Cabinet officials from the Red and White Cabinet accompanied Prabowo on this visit. Among them were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Several Indian officials welcomed Prabowo in New Delhi. Those waiting at the airport included Indian Minister of State for Coal and Mining Affairs Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Air Force Station Palam Commanding Brigadier Rishabh Mittal, and Additional Secretary (South) of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Prashant Agrawal.
Officials from the Indonesian embassy in India also attended to welcome Prabowo's delegation. As he descended the aircraft stairs, Prabowo was welcomed with an honor guard and traditional Indian cultural performances and dances.
