TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto extended his greetings to President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine via a phone call. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya revealed that Prabowo contacted Mahmoud Abbas to convey his Eid al-Fitr greetings for the year 1447 Hijriah.
Teddy stated that this communication was part of Prabowo's series of communication with the leaders of friendly countries. This gesture is an effort to strengthen the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Palestine.
"President Prabowo Subianto continues to communicate and extend his Eid al-Fitr greetings via phone calls to the leaders of Muslim countries, including President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine," Teddy said in a written statement from the Presidential Secretariat, as quoted on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
According to the Presidential Secretariat, the communication between President Prabowo and President Mahmoud Abbas symbolizes Indonesia's consistency in supporting the Palestinian people. Through this communication, Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote peace and regional stability.
Furthermore, in addition to communicating with President Mahmoud Abbas, Prabowo also had similar communications with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia.
Previously, President Prabowo conveyed Eid al-Fitr greetings via telephone to President Recep Tayyip Erdoan of Turkey, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, King Abdullah II of Jordan, and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia.
"This communication reflects prayers and positive hopes in maintaining closeness, support, and strengthening cooperation between countries, especially during the Eid al-Fitr period," Teddy stated.
