TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto departed for East Java on Tuesday morning, June 23, 2026. Prabowo and a limited entourage took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta at around 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
Accompanying the President on the flight were, among others, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Prabowo's departure this morning marks the start of a brief working visit to the province. The President's single-day itinerary in East Java includes infrastructure inaugurations and a national religious gathering.
The Head of State is scheduled to touch down in Sampang Regency, where he will inaugurate a total of 1,151 kilometers of regional roads spanning across Indonesia, a project executed under the Presidential Instruction for Regional Roads (IJD) framework.
"This inauguration is part of the government's commitment to accelerating road infrastructure development to improve inter-regional connectivity, drive regional economic growth, and streamline the distribution of goods and services," the Presidential Secretariat stated in an official press release.
After wrapping up his agenda in Sampang, Prabowo will travel to neighboring Bangkalan Regency. There, he is slated to attend the closing ceremony of the 2026 National Conference of Islamic Scholars and the Great Conference of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), hosted at the Syaichona Mohammad Cholil Institute of Islamic Religion.
The gathering is viewed as a momentum to reinforce the role of Islamic scholars in preserving national unity and offering strategic insights for national development.
Earlier, the Secretary of the Steering Committee for the 2026 NU National Conference, Muhammad Nuh, confirmed the President’s presence at the closing ceremony in Bangkalan, located on Madura Island.
"The closing ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at around 2:00 p.m. WIB, after the committee received confirmation of the President's attendance schedule on Monday, June 22, 2026," Nuh told a press conference at the Al Falah Mojo Islamic Boarding School in Kediri.
