TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In the annual session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), President Prabowo Subianto commended the performance of Indonesia's judicial institutions: the Constitutional Court (MK), the Supreme Court (MA), and the Judicial Commission (KY). He highlighted their achievements from 2024 to 2025.
Prabowo noted that from 2024 to mid-2025, the Constitutional Court handled hundreds of cases related to constitutional law, general elections, and regional election disputes. He praised the court's performance as effective and timely.
"And [it] has produced various important decisions that have been milestones in strengthening democracy and protecting the constitutional rights of citizens," Prabowo said in his speech on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Parliament Complex in Central Jakarta.
The President also claimed that the Supreme Court had successfully implemented judicial reforms and modernized its case management. He noted that the court had focused on settling civil disputes while handling criminal cases through a restorative justice approach. Citing the court's electronic system, or e-Court, he revealed that the number of cases registered at the courts of first instance had increased by 30.84 percent compared to the previous year.
Additionally, the resolution of civil disputes with a claim value of less than 500 million rupiah had increased by 68 percent. The president added, "And the success rate of dispute resolution through mediation has increased by 28 percent."
The Judicial Commission has also been instrumental in maintaining the integrity of judges and increasing public trust. From 2024 to July 2025, the KY selected nine candidates for Supreme Court judges and three ad hoc judges.
"The Indonesian Judicial Commission also received 3,752 reports from the public regarding alleged violations of the Code of Ethics and Judicial Code of Conduct and proposed sanctions for 116 judges," Prabowo said.
The President also highlighted his administration's decision to increase judges' salaries by up to 280%, calling it a crucial factor in strengthening law enforcement and justice.
He further said that his government is also committed to fighting corruption. "We have raised the salaries of some judges by up to 280 percent. We also have no qualms about uncovering major corruption cases," he stated.
