TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto invited American business leaders to explore investment opportunities in Indonesia during a business summit held at The United States Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C.
Speaking to the attending entrepreneurs, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s position as an attractive and competitive investment destination. He pointed out that the country not only has abundant natural resources but also possesses strategically important assets that make it a critical player in the global market.
“We need investment and we want more investment. We are competitive, attractive, and have abundant mineral reserves for new technologies,” he said on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, according to Antara.
“So, please come to Indonesia, thank you.”
Prabowo highlighted Indonesia’s critical mineral reserves, including nickel, copper, and bauxite, which serve as essential raw materials for technology and high-value industries.
“I think we have strengths in critical minerals. I have also received reports that Indonesia ranks among the countries with the largest rare earth reserves in the world,” he added, as quoted by the Prabowo Media Team.
On industrial development, Prabowo emphasized the government’s push to strengthen domestic processing and add value through downstreaming natural resources.
He cited that the Danantara Investment Management Agency will spearhead 18 downstream projects this year, including a US$3 billion (Rp50.4 trillion) waste processing initiative.
“We continue to move forward in industrial downstreaming, with Danantara as the main driving force. We are moving very quickly in these sectors,” he said.
Prabowo also underlined Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining a stable investment climate through regulatory certainty, law enforcement, and good governance. He stressed that these factors are essential to attracting foreign investment.
“For business leaders, certainty is paramount. No one wants to invest in a situation or atmosphere filled with uncertainty, instability, or even chaos,” he said.
