TEMPO.CO, Jakarta –Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said the inaugural meeting of the US President Donald Trump–initiated Board of Peace on Thursday, February 19, 2026, would focus on efforts to advance peace in Gaza, Palestine.
Prabowo made the remarks during a business forum with the United States Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC. He said he was attending the high-level conference at the invitation of Trump.
“The first official meeting of the Board of Peace will discuss the implementation and continuation of the ceasefire in Gaza. We are constantly trying to pave the way for a real and sustainable solution to the Palestine issue,” Prabowo said in the United States on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 (local time), according to his media team.
He added that Indonesia remains committed to its long-standing active and non-aligned foreign policy, stressing that the country does not side with any major power bloc.
“We continue to pursue a non-aligned foreign policy while respecting all major powers. I am determined to implement a good neighbor policy,” Prabowo said.
Earlier, on February 16, 2026, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono met with Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, at the Palestinian Mission in New York.
During the meeting, Sugiono reaffirmed Indonesia’s support for Palestine and its commitment to promoting a just and sustainable peace, emphasizing the importance of achieving a two-state solution.
He also conveyed Prabowo’s plan to attend the Board of Peace meeting in Washington alongside several world leaders, including representatives of the so-called “Group of 8” — Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan.
“The participation of the President of Indonesia aims to ensure that every decision made is in line with the UN Charter and existing multilateral efforts, in order to pave the way for a fair and lasting peace,” Sugiono said.
