TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Government and the United Nations launched the Indonesia–United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2026–2030 on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Bappenas–UN Forum 2025, held at the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) in Jakarta.
Fully aligned with Indonesia’s national development priorities as outlined in the RPJMN 2025–2029, long-term vision RPJPN 2045, the Cooperation Framework frames how the UN will contribute to three transformative outcomes which are Human Development, with a focus on equitable access to health care, education, social protection and nutrition services; Nature, Decarbonization, and Resilience, which includes support for biodiversity, climate adaptation and energy transition; and Economic and Digital Transformation, promoting inclusive economic growth, green jobs, digital innovation and stronger data systems.
“For the implementation of UNSDCF 2026-2030, we must strengthen coordination, build the capacity of local governments and implementing partners, enhance our monitoring and evaluation systems, and mobilize resources through innovative financing,” said Rachmat Pambudy, Minister for National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas.
“Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is not merely a global obligation, it is a promise to our people to create a future that is inclusive, just, and resilient. UNSDCF has captured the needs, and the alignment reflects our joint dedication to the ADGs and underscores the importance of partnership, mutual respect, and coordinated action” said Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, Deputy Minister for National Development Planning/Deputy Head of Bappenas.
“Today’s launch should be more than a milestone; it should become the catalyst for equitable and sustainable progress to every community across Indonesia,” said Arrmanatha Nasir, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs.
“By embedding our efforts within national programmes and budgets, the UN will deliver impacts at scale to advance the President’s ambition for food, energy, and water security- premised on a high growth trajectory,” said Gita Sabharwal, the UN Resident Coordinator in Indonesia.
To support this ambition, the Framework also sets out how the UN is adapting its approach, focusing on bridging development divides, mobilizing innovative finance at scale, and providing high-quality integrated policy and technical support.“As we enter the last five-year sprint to 2030, we are facing rapidly changing geopolitical challenges. This means that we at the UN cannot continue with business-as-usual, and the new Cooperation Framework reimagines a bold shift in our role.” Sabharwal said.
As part of these efforts, UN agencies are currently exploring new innovative financing for sustainable development, including the Indonesia SDGs Accelerator Fund and provincial thematic bonds. These new mechanisms are aimed at mobilizing capital to support local governments in designing and implementing development programs tailored to their specific needs, particularly in underserved regions.
The Cooperation Framework was developed through extensive consultations with government ministries, civil society organizations, the private sector, youth groups, and development partners. It lays the foundations for the work of the 22 UN agencies active in the country, ensuring coherence, efficiency, and increased impact in delivering support.
