TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The exchange rate of the rupiah in the afternoon trading today, Thursday, August 14, 2025, closed stronger by 87 points at Rp16,201 per U.S. dollar. In the previous trading session, the rupiah strengthened by 120 points.
Currency and Commodity Market Analyst Ibrahim Assuaibi stated that the rupiah is projected to close stronger in tomorrow's trading. "In tomorrow's trading, the rupiah is expected to fluctuate but close stronger in the range of Rp16,060 - Rp16,120 per U.S. dollar," Ibrahim said in a written statement on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Ibrahim mentioned that the market is currently awaiting the state address of President Prabowo Subianto and the Financial Note of the Draft State Budget (APBN) for 2026. The plan is for Prabowo to deliver the address at the House of Representatives Building in the Parliament Complex, Senayan, on Friday, August 15, 2025.
The President's address will provide an overview of the state budget posture and the government's priority programs for the next year. The two addresses to be delivered by President Prabowo need to be delivered on time. President Prabowo is scheduled to deliver two state addresses on the commemoration of Indonesia's 80th Independence Day.
The latest U.S. inflation data strengthens the expectation that the Federal Reserve (Fed) will cut interest rates at its monetary policy meeting in September. The latest U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) report shows that the monthly core inflation in July increased as expected, while the annual inflation rate decreased slightly below expectations.
Traders are closely observing the high-level meeting between President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin of Russia in Anchorage on Friday, which could lead to the easing of Russian crude oil sanctions and may even result in further actions against buyers.
