
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will sponsor 1,000 pilgrims from around the world to perform Umrah under the King Salman Guests Program, with all expenses fully covered by the monarch.
The initiative is organized by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance as part of the Kingdom's efforts to facilitate religious travel for Muslims worldwide.
The first group, which is part of a four-phase program during the Islamic year 1448 AH, will consist of 250 Umrah pilgrims from 16 Asian countries.
The participating countries are Indonesia, Timor-Leste, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Singapore, China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mongolia.
Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs and General Supervisor of the King Salman Guests Program, Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh, expressed his appreciation to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their continued commitment to serving Muslims around the world.
He also praised the Saudi leadership's efforts to make it easier for Muslims from different countries to perform Umrah and visit Islam's holy sites.
According to Al Alsheikh, the initiative reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to strengthening solidarity among Muslims while reinforcing the Kingdom's humanitarian and religious mission.
He said the program also aims to foster closer ties with Islamic scholars, religious leaders, and influential figures across the global Muslim community.
