TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Singapore’s iconic indoor snow attraction Snow City will permanently close on Sept. 30, 2026, ending 26 years of operation as one of the city-state’s most popular family destinations.
The Straits Times reported that the Science Centre Board (SCB) announced that the closure reflects its commitment to keeping attractions “fresh and relevant” amid changing visitor interests and an evolving entertainment landscape.
Snow City, located in Jurong East, first opened in 2000 as Singapore’s first indoor snow center, offering tropical visitors the experience of winter-themed activities without leaving the country.
Over the years, the attraction became known for its sub-zero environment, long ice slides, snow play areas, bumper car rides, snowball activities, and themed winter village experiences.
The Science Centre Board said the closure also aligns with its broader science education mission and future development plans.
Ahead of the shutdown, Snow City will launch a farewell campaign titled “One Last Snowfall” from June to September, allowing visitors to relive childhood memories before the attraction closes permanently.
During the campaign period, visitors will receive discounted packages that include one hour of snow play and a bumper car ride. Ticket prices will be reduced to S$19 for adults and S$16 for children, down from the usual S$27 and S$23 respectively.
Secret Singapore noted that Snow City had become a nostalgic destination for generations of Singaporeans, especially families and school groups seeking a rare winter experience in the tropics.
The publication described the closure as “the end of an era” for one of Jurong East’s best-known attractions.
The Science Centre Board also confirmed that all eight full-time Snow City employees have been offered redeployment opportunities within the organization. Staff members who choose to leave will receive outplacement assistance and severance support in line with Singapore’s employment guidelines.
Snow City said more details regarding the farewell activities and promotions will be announced through its official website and social media platforms in the coming months.
