Spotify Adds New Tools to Enhance Playlists and Music Discovery for Premium Users

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -  Spotify announced several new features on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, aimed at giving users greater control over playlist organization and music recommendations.

In a statement quoted on Friday, May 9, 2025, the company said it is gradually rolling out updates and experiments that enhance the listening experience and music discovery for users.

For premium subscribers, improvements include a redesigned Now Playing view with updated Queue controls and easier access to functions like Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat, and Sleep Timer.

Premium users will also see suggested tracks queued after the current song ends, allowing them to manage what's next. Spotify noted that Autoplay and Smart Shuffle can be turned off in the settings for more control.

To further personalize the experience, Spotify added a hide button for skipping songs that don’t fit a user’s mood—ensuring the track won’t reappear on any device. A snooze feature is also being tested, enabling users to temporarily remove songs from recommendations.

The update makes it easier to manage playlists by letting users quickly add, sort, or edit songs, change playlist titles, customize cover art, and arrange track order. In select countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, users can also convert their liked songs into playlists by filtering by genre.

Users can explore more music through the '+' button, which enables playlist creation, friend collaboration, and joining Blend. In certain regions, premium users also get quick access to Jam for real-time group listening and AI Playlist for generating creative playlist ideas.

Spotify added that with the broader rollout of AI Playlists, even more users can explore new ways to enjoy their favorite music.
