Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the current depreciation of the rupiah is inappropriate, as the currency weakened past 17,800 per US dollar at the close of trading on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

2. Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh Receives 1,700 Citizens Fleeing Online Scams
Thousands of Indonesian nationals who fell victim to online scams in Cambodia have sought assistance at the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, between January 16 and 21, 2026, a total of 1,726 Indonesians escaped from various online scam operations across different regions of the country.

3. Indonesia's CPO Exports Plunge Across Nine Major Markets
The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki) reported a monthly decline in Indonesia’s crude palm oil (CPO) production, domestic consumption, and exports in March 2026.
In a written statement issued on Monday, May 25, 2026, Gapki said CPO production in March reached 4.403 million tons, down 12.22 percent from 5.015 million tons recorded in February.
