TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The screen technology company Samsung Display introduces its latest LTPO OLED smartphone panel. Apple uses the M16 luminescent material screen in the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo series.
Citing GSM Arena, the Samsung M16 OLED panel is touted to achieve a peak brightness level of up to 10,000 nits. This figure represents the maximum brightness level that can be achieved in small, specific areas of the screen for a brief period of time.
This screen features LEAD 2.0 technology, an improvement over the previous generation, especially in color accuracy and power efficiency. Samsung's management stated that this screen consumes up to 30 percent less power than the M14 panel.
"And also produces less flicker with 3,300Hz pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming," as stated in GSM Arena's review on Monday, September 14, 2026. PWM refers to the electrical power regulation that is sent to the device's main components.
In terms of specifications, this screen panel has a WQHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and a variable refresh rate of 1–165 Hz. It also has a touch sampling rate of up to 5,000 Hz. The panel is equipped with an anti-reflective layer and a polarizer-free design that incorporates RGB color or direct light filters into the OLED material.
This product is also set to be installed in the upcoming iQOO 16 device. Reports also suggest this screen may be included in the design of the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra.
