TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Xiaomi officially launched four new smartphone models in Indonesia on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The lineup comprises the Redmi Note 17, Redmi Note 17 5G, Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G, and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G.
Among the new arrivals, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G leads the series as the top-tier variant to adopt the "Pro Max" moniker for the first time, replacing the "Pro Plus" designation used in previous generations.
One of the defining features of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G is its 10,000 mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims is the largest capacity in its smartphone lineup. The battery utilizes silicon-carbon technology with a 16 percent silicon content, supporting 100W HyperCharge fast charging and 27W reverse charging.
Xiaomi Indonesia Product Marketing Lead Jeksen claimed the battery can power the device for up to three days on a single charge. “Industry-leading battery performance and after-sales care make the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max our most durable device yet,” Jeksen said during the launch event in Jakarta on Wednesday evening.
On a full charge, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G can handle video playback for up to 40 hours, YouTube streaming for 34 hours, and YouTube Shorts for 24 hours. Google Maps navigation runs continuously for up to 16 hours, while music playback reaches 137 hours and talk time extends to 78 hours.
"Use it for up to three full days on just one charge," Jeksen said. "From busy workdays to activity-filled weekends, you no longer need to worry about the battery."
Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G packs an 8,340 mAh battery with 67W HyperCharge. The standard Redmi Note 17 5G and Redmi Note 17 each house a 7,700 mAh battery with 45W charging.
Spacious Display, Sharper Camera
On the camera front, both the standard Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 5G sport a 50-megapixel main camera alongside a 16-megapixel front camera. The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G elevates optics with an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel main sensor and an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens.
Stepping up further, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G is equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS and an f/1.5 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The Pro Max variant also supports 4K video capture at 30 frames per second.
Displays on the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 5G feature a 6.99-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both Pro models upgrade to a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 17 runs on the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 chip, while the Redmi Note 17 5G houses the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4. The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G steps up with the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, while the top-spec Pro Max model packs the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5.
Xiaomi leadership expressed strong confidence in the physical resilience of the new lineup. The standard Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 5G carry IP65 ratings for dust and water resistance, whereas the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G and Pro Max 5G boast IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certifications.
Both Pro variants are shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. According to the company, these flagship models endured water immersion tests at depths of two meters for up to 72 hours, as well as drop tests from three meters high.
