
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rescue teams from 30 countries are joining the post-earthquake recovery efforts in Venezuela.
"We continue rescue efforts to search for survivors. Another team from Vietnam arrived today, as well as rescuers from Cuba. We continue to join forces," said the interim President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, on Monday, June 29, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
As of Monday, she said, 30 countries are carrying out the mission of saving lives in Venezuela. They are participating in search-and-rescue operations and providing support to the Venezuelan people during this difficult time.
Rodriguez stated that the government has started assessing the condition of damaged buildings. She also mentioned that families who have lost their homes will be temporarily placed in several prepared camps.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Housing is preparing a program to build new homes. Rodriguez says that the government's goal is for thousands of affected families to have new housing by the end of 2026.
At the same time, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that 11 Italian citizens have died as a result of the earthquake in Venezuela, while the search for another 40 people continues.
More than 100 personnel from Italy, including members of the civil protection agency, firefighters, medical personnel, and search and rescue experts, have been sent to Venezuela. Italy has also provided humanitarian aid and equipment via two flights of military transport aircraft.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, two major earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 rocked Venezuela. According to the latest official data, the death toll has reached 1,719 people, and more than 5,000 people have been injured.
