TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Arsenal concluded their 2026/27 pre-season by defeating Como 1907 4-3 on penalties at the Emirates Stadium in London on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
The two teams played out a 1-1 draw over 90 minutes before The Gunners prevailed in the penalty shootout.
Arsenal took the initiative from the start of the match. Gabriel Jesus nearly put the hosts ahead in the 6th minute, but his shot struck the Como goalpost.
Como managed to threaten the Arsenal defense on occasion. However, The Gunners eventually opened the scoring in the 33rd minute through Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Lewis-Skelly capitalized on a chance to give Mikel Arteta's side a 1-0 lead.
That lead did not last until halftime; Como managed to equalize late in the first half through Martin Baturina.
Baturina found the back of Kepa Arrizabalaga's net to make it 1-1, a scoreline that remained unchanged going into the break.
The match remained tight in the second half. Arsenal created several chances from set-pieces but failed to convert any of them into goals.
Como also threatened the Arsenal defense a few times, but their efforts proved fruitless. The score remained 1-1 at the end of the 90 minutes.
The winner had to be decided by a penalty shootout, where Arsenal proved more effective, winning 4-3.
For The Gunners, only Noni Madueke failed to convert his spot-kick. Meanwhile, Como missed twice, with Alvaro Morata and Ivan Smolcic failing to score.
This victory marked the end of Arsenal's pre-season campaign. Next, The Gunners will face Manchester City in the Community Shield match at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff this weekend.
