TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has responded to Morgan Stanley Capital International’s index adjustments following its August review. IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik noted that such adjustments are routinely performed by MSCI.
"As with previous rebalancing cycles, MSCI uses public information disclosed by the IDX, including high shareholding concentration (HSC) data and the 1 percent shareholding threshold," Jeffrey said in a written statement to reporters on Thursday, August 13, 2026. He added that the IDX will maintain continuous communication with MSCI and global investors.
In its index review published on August 13, 2026, MSCI dropped 10 Indonesian equities. MSCI also kept its freeze on Indonesian equities in place, blocking any new additions to the index.
Within the Global Standard Index, MSCI removed shares of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia (GOTO) alongside agribusiness firm PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia (CPIN). However, CPIN was subsequently reclassified into the MSCI Global Small Cap Index.
Meanwhile, in the Global Small Cap Index, MSCI excluded nine Indonesian stocks. The delisted shares are Bank Jago (ARTO), Bukalapak (BUKA), Essa Industries Indonesia (ESSA), MD Entertainment (FILM), Medikaloka Hermina (HEAL), MNC Tourism Indonesia (KPIG), Raharja Energi Cepu (RATU), Semen Indonesia (SMGR), and Transcoal Pacific (TCPI). These adjustments will take effect after the close of trading on August 31, 2026, or starting early September 2026.
