TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Singer Rose of BLACKPINK has achieved historic new accomplishments, officially setting two new Guinness World Records. Her records are linked to her achievement as the first K-pop artist to break into the major Grammy Awards categories.
Rose's World Records Achievement
Rose has placed herself among global artists with achievements previously unseen in K-pop history. As reported by Allkpop, she now holds two new Guinness World Records for receiving nominations in the Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories at the Grammy Awards, the two most prestigious categories that form part of the "Big Four."
This achievement also solidifies Rose’s position as the Korean soloist with the most Guinness World Records of all time, collecting a total of eight awards and surpassing BTS' Jungkook.
These are the Guinness World Records currently held by Rose:
Most-watched YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop artist with 41.6 million views for "On the Ground."
First K-pop artist to reach #1 on the Billboard Global 200 & Global Excl. U.S. as a soloist and group member (with "On the Ground").
Highest-charting female K-pop artist on the Billboard 200 with the album Rosie.
First female K-pop artist to enter the Billboard Radio Songs Top 10 with the song "APT."
First K-pop artist to top the Apple Music Global Top 100 with "APT."
Fastest K-pop song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify: "APT."
First K-pop artist nominated for a Grammy in "Record of the Year."
First K-pop artist nominated for a Grammy in "Song of the Year."
Why Rose’s Grammy Nomination Is So Historic
The Grammy Awards are renowned for the four major categories, known as the "Big Four": Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best New Artist. Rose's inclusion in two of these top categories is an unprecedented feat, one that not even the biggest K-pop groups have managed to achieve.
For years, the main Grammy categories have been dominated by artists from the U.S. and the U.K. Despite K-pop's massive global influence, its presence at the awards was often relegated to smaller, genre-specific categories. With Rose of BLACKPINK's nomination, the Grammys have, for the first time, truly opened up the highest echelons of the global music industry to a K-pop artist.
