TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain announced on Monday, March 2, that their air defense systems had intercepted a significant number of Iranian drones and ballistic missiles since the attacks began.
As reported by Antara, the UAE Ministry of Defense reported that 541 drones were detected, of which 506 were destroyed and 35 crashed within the country's territory. The ministry also reported that 165 Iranian ballistic missiles were detected, 152 of which were intercepted; 13 fell into the sea.
Meanwhile, the Bahrain Defense Forces announced that their air defense system had successfully repelled 61 missiles and 34 drones that were targeting the kingdom.
Tensions in the Middle East increased on Saturday, February 28, after the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran. The attack killed several senior Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In response, Iran launched a series of drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, U.S. assets, and several Gulf states.
