TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts drizzles in nearly all provincial capitals across Indonesia during today's Good Friday celebrations.
BMKG forecaster Lintang Alya N, speaking virtually as quoted from Antara, said that in Sumatra, Banda Aceh, Tanjung Pinang, and Jambi are expected to be cloudy, while Medan, Pekanbaru, Pangkal Pinang, Bengkulu, and Palembang are expecting a drizzly day ahead.
"Beware of rain that may be accompanied by thunderstorms in the Padang and Bandar Lampung regions," the forecaster said.
Turning to the island of Java, light rain is predicted for all provincial capitals, from Serang City, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya.
Furthermore, in Kalimantan, the city of Pontianak is seeing cloudy skies today, while drizzles are forecast in Palangkaraya, Tanjung Selor, Samarinda, and Banjarmasin.
Moving to Bali and Nusa Tenggara, the weather is forecast to be cloudy in Mataram, while Denpasar and Kupang will experience light rain.
Furthermore, on the island of Sulawesi, moderate rain is forecast throughout the provincial capitals, including Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Mamuju, Makassar, and Kendari.
In Maluku and North Maluku, Ternate and Ambon are also forecast to experience light rain. Meanwhile, in Papua, light rain will fall in Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, and Jayapura.
"Jayawijaya and Merauke will experience moderate rain," said Lintang.
BMKG also warned of the potential for heavy to very heavy rain in West Java, Central Java, and Papua Highlands.
