TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Italian aircraft carrier ITS Giuseppe Garibaldi will take part in an Indonesian military naval parade in Jakarta Bay on October 4, 2026, ahead of the Indonesian Military (TNI)’s 81st anniversary celebrations.
Indonesian Navy Information Service Chief First Admiral Tunggul said the carrier would serve as a viewing platform for President Prabowo Subianto and other state guests during the parade of naval defense equipment.
“Regarding the Sailing Pass, which the Indonesian president is scheduled to attend in Jakarta Bay, the Garibaldi will be involved in the event,” Tunggul told ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 15.
The naval parade is part of a series of events marking the TNI’s 81st anniversary, with the main celebration scheduled to take place at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta on October 5.
TNI Headquarters Information Center Chief Major General Muhammad Nas said the Garibaldi would join hundreds of other Indonesian Navy vessels in the parade.
“Planning data records 102 Indonesian Navy warships participating in the Naval Parade,” Nas told ANTARA.
TNI to Stage Naval Combat Simulation
In addition to the naval parade, the TNI will stage a simulated maritime combat operation involving special forces.
The following day, the military will hold a land-based parade of defense equipment at Monas in Central Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto is also scheduled to attend the parade, which will be open to the public.
Nas said the series of defense equipment parades was expected to strengthen public confidence in the TNI and its role in national security.
“The entire series of events marking the TNI’s 81st anniversary is a momentum to strengthen togetherness and the TNI’s ties with the people, as well as to demonstrate the TNI’s contribution to Indonesian society and the nation,” he said.
