IDX Closed February 16-17 for Chinese New Year

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta In conjunction with the Chinese New Year 2577 Kongzili, trading on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) will be closed on February 16-17, 2026. The Chinese New Year falls on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Meanwhile, Monday, February 16, 2026, has been designated as a collective leave day.

According to the 2026 stock exchange calendar, February 16-17 is designated as a market holiday for the entire month. Trading will resume on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Throughout 2026, there will be 22 market holidays, with a total of 239 trading days.

"In addition to the schedule mentioned above, stock exchange holidays will be determined later if clearing activities are suspended by Bank Indonesia or due to a government announcement regarding the suspension of work activities on a particular day," reads the official IDX website, quoted on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Meanwhile, this week, the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) strengthened 3.49 percent and closed at 8,212.27. This position is higher than last week's level of 7,935.26.

"Stock trading data on the IDX for the period February 9-13, 2026, mostly closed positive," said IDX Corporate Secretary Kautsar Primadi Nurahmad in a press release, quoted on Sunday, February 15, 2026. He said the highest increase occurred in daily transaction volume, which rose 4.73 percent to 45.24 billion shares from 43.20 billion shares the previous week.

The IDX's market capitalization also increased by 3.83 percent to Rp14,889 trillion from Rp14,341 trillion the previous week. Average daily transaction frequency also increased by 0.37 percent to 2.74 million transactions, up from 2.73 million the previous week.

However, the IDX's average daily transaction value decreased by 6.27 percent to Rp23.20 trillion. The previous week's daily transaction value reached Rp24.75 trillion. Foreign investors recorded net selling of Rp2.03 trillion on Friday, February 13, 2026. Throughout 2026, net selling by investors reached Rp16.49 trillion.
