TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Manpower, is committed to bolstering cooperation with Austria in tourism and welding vocational studies.
"The Manpower Ministry commends the Austrian government for its full funding support, knowledge transfer, training management, curriculum development, and capacity building for training resources under the supervision of Austrian experts," said Minister of Manpower Yassierli in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
The collaboration between the two countries is realized through manpower development assistance at the Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BPVP) in Banyuwangi, East Java. The collaboration was marked by the signing of the Vocational Training Center (Pusat Pengembangan Pelatihan Vokasi) Banyuwangi document during the Inauguration of School Operation at BPVP Banyuwangi, East Java.
Yassierli stated that the Inauguration of School Operation and the Tourism and Welding Vocational Workshops are part of the ministry's collaboration with the Austrian government through the Austria International Project GmbH.
"Tourism and welding vocational studies are urgently needed right now," said the minister, adding that he hopes younger generations benefit from the facilities and earn certifications that stand out in the job market.
The Minister hopes that through this cooperation, the youths of Banyuwangi could gain access to modern, industry-standard skill training that will assist them in entering the domestic and global job markets.
Yassierli emphasized that this collaboration demonstrates the importance of global partnerships in human resource development, aligning with President Prabowo's Astacita program in developing the quality of human resources through education and vocational training.
At the same event, Yassierli also witnessed the signing of the collaboration document between BPVP Banyuwangi and 10 strategic industry partners in Banyuwangi as part of strengthening vocational training collaboration.
Austrian Ambassador to Indonesia, Thomas Loidl, expressed hopes that the welding and tourism training programs will create more job opportunities in Banyuwangi.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Vocational Training and Productivity Development (Binalavotas) at the ministry, Agung Nur Rohman, emphasized that the welding and tourism vocational study cooperation comprises four main components.
These include the construction of workshop facilities; procurement of tourism and welding vocational training equipment; development of curricula, syllabi, programs, and training modules that align with recognized Austrian standards in Europe; and training for instructors and training staff.
