TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration has apprehended 11 Vietnamese nationals at a beauty clinic in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), North Jakarta. They are suspected of misusing their residency permits in Indonesia. The Vietnamese nationals were detained during an immigration surveillance operation at three beauty clinics in Jakarta on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

"We found alleged immigration violations at the clinic located in PIK," said Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman in a written statement on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

The Immigration Surveillance and Enforcement Team (Wasdakim), which carried out the operation, was divided into two teams. The first team conducted searches at two beauty clinics in Central Jakarta, while the second team searched a beauty clinic in PIK, North Jakarta.

In the clinics in Central Jakarta, Yuldi stated that his team found several Vietnamese workers. Based on the examination, there were no indications of residency permit misuse at these two locations.

Meanwhile, at the clinic in North Jakarta, the clinic staff was uncooperative towards the officers and claimed that no foreign workers were working there. However, the Wasdakim team found 11 Vietnamese nationals who were suspected of misusing their residence permits. Furthermore, the Directorate General of Immigration found a Vietnamese passport bearing the initials NTH, but the owner was not present.

A clinic staff member, who is an Indonesian citizen, also displayed uncooperative behavior by locking the room, causing the officers to make efforts to gain independent access. A Vietnamese national tried to lock the examination room's door and hide on the building's rooftop.

The Vietnamese nationals, along with an Indonesian citizen, were taken to the Directorate General of Immigration for further examination. After the examination, the immigration office imposed administrative measures by deporting the 11 foreign nationals.

Eight Vietnamese nationals were deported on Monday, August 11, 2025, using Vietnam Air, while the other three were deported on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, using Vietjet Air.
