Indonesian National Christmas 2025 Set for January 5, 2026, in Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2025 National Christmas Celebration will take place on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta. The event is expected to be attended by thousands of Christian congregants.

General Chairperson of the National Christmas Celebration Committee, Maruarar Sirait, stated that the 2025 celebration will emphasize simplicity. This decision aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's preference for a modest yet impactful community event.

"We have agreed to keep the celebration simple, but focus instead on increasing social assistance in the education sector by Rp10 million per person, as well as providing aid in the form of 10,000 packages of basic necessities," said Maruarar on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

According to Maruarar, the budget for the Christmas celebration is derived purely from community fundraising, without utilizing state budgets or state-owned enterprise funds. "This Christmas celebration also utilizes funds collected from the mutual cooperation of all religious communities," he added.

The theme for the 2025 National Christmas Celebration is 'The Presence of Jesus for the Family.' Maruarar explained that the theme was chosen to address how Jesus can be a resource for contemporary family issues.

"There are economic and psychological challenges, as well as online gambling and online loans, that disrupt family finances. The theme focuses on how Jesus can be present, as that strength is important for families, and how those family values can be revived," Maruarar stated.

The committee plans to invite 500 church ushers from the Jakarta area, orphans, 500 Christian and Catholic religious teachers, 500 Sunday school teachers, children from orphanages and Sunday schools, and 500 people with disabilities or widows in need of support. President Prabowo Subianto will also be invited.
