TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - K-pop group BLACKPINK is collaborating with the National Museum of Korea (NMK) to celebrate the release of their latest extended play (EP), DEADLINE. This project marks the first time a K-pop group has collaborated on such a large scale with the country's museum.

The partnership, which combines BLACKPINK's global influence with Korea's rich cultural heritage, was officially announced on Thursday, February 12, 2026. According to The Korea Times, the collaborative initiative, dubbed "National Museum of Korea X BLACKPINK," will run from Friday, February 27, to March 8, 2026. During this period, the museum will transform its interior and exterior into an immersive experience space for fans and the general public.

Visual Transformation and Immersion Zone

As a direct tribute, the museum building and outdoor plaza will be illuminated in the group's signature pink light every day from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM local time. This measure aims to offer a unique nighttime viewing experience for the public. Inside the museum, a special listening zone will be installed along the "Path to History" in the museum's east wing.

As reported by Bandwagon Asia, this zone will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the entire DEADLINE album, starting on Friday, February 27th at 2:00 PM, the album's official release. This collaboration aims to provide a new context for enjoying modern music within a historically rich environment.

Purpose and Cultural Impact

Furthermore, this collaboration goes beyond visuals and audio. The BLACKPINK members are also participating as audio docents for eight important national artifacts on display at the museum. According to The Korea Herald, visitors can listen to the group members' voices explaining the history and value of these artifacts through the audio streaming platform Spotify, which is also an official partner of the project.

"This project is designed to provide a new experience where visitors can experience the beauty of our cultural heritage through the lens of pop culture," said a museum representative. This collaboration is expected to encourage a younger generation to appreciate Korean history more, while also providing a new way for BLACKPINK fans to interact with their idol group.
