TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti explained the division of duties among members of the Board of Governors. She stated that the six members of the board oversee their respective operational areas. However, she emphasized that this division of tasks remains fluid.
For instance, Destry noted that she currently oversees the Islamic economics portfolio. However, another member of the board could take over that sector in the future. "So the allocation of areas is actually dynamic, allowing us to rotate," she said at the Supreme Court building on Tuesday, September 2, 2026.
The former Bank Mandiri economist emphasized that every central bank policy will be decided collectively during the board of governors meeting, meaning no single board member holds sole authority over a policy direction.
In addition, Destry revealed plans to resume holding monthly Board of Governors meeting press conferences in person. For over a year, the outcomes of these decision-making meetings have been announced online. "Of course, we will evaluate the exact timing later, but at the very least we are moving in that direction so we can interact better with everyone," she said.
Destry Damayanti was officially inaugurated as Governor of Bank Indonesia on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Alongside Destry, Aida S. Budiman and Solikin M. Juhro were sworn in as Senior Deputy Governors. They will serve for the 2026–2031 term.
