Palace Denies Allegations of Staged Interview with US Diaspora

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Deputy State Secretary Minister Juri Ardiantoro responded to information circulating on social media suggesting that the American diaspora interviewed by the government about President Prabowo Subianto's presence in the United States was staged.

The interview was broadcast through the government's official social media channels. The interview took place as the diaspora welcomed Prabowo's arrival to attend the United Nations agenda in New York, U.S., on Saturday, September 20, 2025. It is known that Prabowo delivered a speech at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

Juri stated that the government does not regulate interviews with the diaspora. Juri claimed that the public is already aware that President Prabowo Subianto is genuinely and rightfully carrying out his duties.

"We don't like orchestrations. People already know that the president is doing something genuine, something right. So, there's no need for orchestrations," he said at the Ministry of State Secretariat building in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

The information about the orchestrated agenda was first brought up by a collective social media account called Bareng Warga on the social media platform X on Monday, September 22, 2025. Bareng Warga said that presidential journalists determined the sources of the diaspora from the U.S. "The interview with the diaspora in New York was arranged by the presidential journalists; they couldn't choose other sources," said Bareng Warga.

Bareng Warga highlighted an interview with a diaspora named Glory Lamria in one of the media outlets. Bareng Warga mentioned that Glory was a predetermined figure to be interviewed.

Tempo has reached out to Glory's Instagram account on Thursday, September 25, 2025. However, Tempo's message has not been replied to.

Bareng Warga also pointed out the alleged stay of President Prabowo Subianto's entourage at the Aman New York Hotel when attending the 80th UN General Assembly in New York. Bareng Warga stated that the cost of staying at the Aman New York Hotel ranges from US$6,000 (Rp100 million) to US$25,000 (Rp417 million) per night. Tempo's investigation on the official website of Aman New York showed that the cost of staying in a room ranges from US$2,000 (Rp30 million) to US$6,000 (Rp100 million) per night.

Regarding this matter, Deputy State Secretary Minister Juri Ardiantoro was unable to provide a statement. "Ask me questions that I can answer, then," he said at the Ministry of State Secretariat building in Jakarta yesterday.

During his stay in New York, Prabowo attended the UN's 80th General Assembly. The Head of State delivered his inaugural speech at the forum. Prabowo was honored to be allowed to deliver the third speech, after those from Brazil and the U.S. "Brazil is always number one. The United States is always number two. Only then did they allow Indonesia, showing reverence, respecting Indonesia," said Prabowo in an official statement on Wednesday, September 23, 2025.

Prabowo stated that the UN stage was used to voice Indonesia's consistent stance in advocating world peace, including pushing for peace in Gaza. "Especially supporting the resolution of conflicts in all places, but the most important for us is, of course, the cries of suffering from the people of Gaza," said the Head of State.

Prabowo claimed that many countries responded positively to Indonesia's resolute yet balanced stance. For him, Indonesia's views were considered realistic by the leaders present at the forum.

During his visit to New York, Prabowo participated in the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Issue and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution at the UN General Assembly, and attended the Multilateral Meeting on the Middle East upon the invitation of the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

Prabowo also held bilateral meetings with the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres. Additionally, the Head of State met with Bill Gates, the founder of the Gates Foundation and a world philanthropy figure, and presented him with an honor for his outstanding dedication to the welfare of humankind.
