TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is keen to invest more in Indonesia, said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, after President Prabowo Subianto met with his counterpart Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) earlier this week.

The bilateral meeting took place at the Qasr Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, February 26, 2026. "The meeting discussed investment cooperations and enhancing bilateral ties. The UAE hopes to boost its investment in Indonesia," said Teddy, who was present with Prabowo at the meeting, in a written statement on Friday.

According to Teddy, the UAE views Indonesia as its major strategic partner in Southeast Asia, especially in energy, infrastructure, and the development of future economies. The Indonesian government regards the ties with the UAE as close and mutually beneficial.

President Prabowo, according to Teddy, welcomed the investment commitment and affirmed Indonesia's readiness to create a conducive investment climate. He added that Indonesia also welcomes the opportunity for broader collaboration with UAE investors across various national priority sectors.

The bilateral meeting between Prabowo and President MBZ also signifies 50 years of ties between the two countries, since 1976. According to Teddy, Indonesia and UAE are now entering a new phase with a focus on future investments, economic growth, and partnerships.

In this Ramadan meeting, the bilateral forum commenced with an open discussion while awaiting Maghrib prayer. The dialogue then continued in an expanded meeting to discuss a number of strategic agendas, ranging from energy, investment, to future economic partnerships, according to the Presidential Secretariat's statement.

Finally, President Prabowo and President MBZ held a tête-à-tête meeting, which marked both leaders' commitment to strengthen diplomatic ties between Indonesia and UAE.

President Prabowo was accompanied by several officials in this bilateral meeting, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, the Secretary of the Cabinet Teddy Indra Wijaya, the Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE Judha Nugraha, as well as the President Director of PT. Pindad (Persero), Sigit P. Santosa.

Meanwhile, President MBZ was accompanied by the Deputy Chair of the Presidential Court, Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, the Advisor of the Presidential Court, Mohamed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, the Strategic Affairs Advisor, Ahmed Al Mazrouei, the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Al Mazrouei, and the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Obaid Salem Al Dhaheri.
