Bill Clinton Denies Any Knowledge of Epstein's Sex Crimes

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former US President Bill Clinton testified that he had no knowledge of the sex crimes of the late sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein, according to a video released by a US congressional committee on Monday.

The recording of the depositions, made under oath, to the House of Representatives Oversight Committee spanned over two days last week.

What did Clinton tell the lawmakers?

During the deposition, Bill Clinton told the committee that he had parted his way from Epstein years before the convicted sex offender entered a 2008 guilty plea to soliciting prostitution from an underage girl.

Bill Clinton told the committee that he first met Epstein when he boarded the financier's private jet in 2002 for the Clintons' humanitarian work, but their ties fell apart a year later.

"There's nothing that I saw when I was around him that made me realize he was trafficking women," he told the committee.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton told the committee that she does not even remember meeting Epstein.

The Clintons' depositions come as demands for accountability over the Epstein files grow louder. However, they have not been accused of any wrongdoing.

Clinton says Trump told him of 'some great times' with Epstein

Clinton also recalled a conversation he had with Donald Trump long before he became a Republican president. Clinton told the lawmakers that Trump told him he had "some great times" with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

"Somehow, [Donald Trump] knew I had flown in Jeffrey Epstein's aircraft," Clinton told the committee. "He said, 'You know, we had some great times together over the years, but we fell out all because of a real estate deal.'"

He said Trump had never "said anything to me to make me think he was involved in anything improper with regard to Epstein."

Both Clinton and Trump admitted to having an association with Epstein but before the financier pleaded guilty in 2008. Both have repeatedly said they did not see any evidence of sex trafficking.
