TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Indonesian U-23 national team played India in a friendly match at Gelora Bung Karno Madya Stadium in Senayan, Jakarta, for the 2025 SEA Games, on Monday, October 13, 2025. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Indra Sjafri's team played to a 0-0 tie with India in the first half. Indonesia conceded a goal in the 46th minute of the second half through Thingujam Korou Singh.

Dony Tri Pamungkas scored the equalizer in the 70th minute. His left-footed free kick, taken just outside the penalty area, evaded the Indian goalkeeper and sailed into the left corner of the net. Dony's goal saved Indonesia from defeat, tying the score at 1-1.

The Garuda squad played more cohesively in this match than in their first meeting with India, which ended in a 1-2 defeat. Last Friday, Indonesia conceded two goals in the opening 26 minutes. Dony scored in the 41st minute to reduce the deficit.

These two friendlies against India are part of the Indonesian U-23 national team's initial preparations for the 2025 SEA Games, which will be held in Thailand from December 9 to 20. Coach Indra Sjafri, who won a gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, could repeat his success after ending his title drought at the event two years ago.

Match Progress

First Half

Coach Indra Sjafri rotated players for the second match of the Indonesian U-23 National Team against India. Goalkeeper Daffa Fasha was selected as a starter. In the first match, goalkeeper Cahya Supriadi played the first half, while Ardiansyah played the second half. Ardiansyah played in the second.

Team captain Kadek Arel Priyatna remained the mainstay of the defense. Dion Eddy Markx was brought on from the start to strengthen the back line. Kakang Rudianto was also included. Dony Tri Pamungkas remained at right wing-back. Frenky Missa played left wing-back.

Arkhan Fikri, previously a substitute, started in midfield. Muhammad Rayhan Hannan and Toni Firmansyah remained in the starting lineup. Midfielder Rivaldo Enero Pakpahan was also given a starting position. Meanwhile, Hokky Caraka spearheaded the attack.

From the start of this match, Indra Sjafri's squad played aggressively. Rivaldo opened the scoring with a shot toward the opponent's goal. The Indian players responded with a counterattack.

The next opportunity came when Frenky Missa's shot hit the crossbar. Two minutes later, Toni stole the ball as the opposing team tried to build an attack from the back. However, his move was blocked by an Indian defender. Rayhan Hannan then had another chance, but his shot went wide.

During the first 15 minutes, Indonesia continued building attacks from the wings and midfield. They were more creative than in the previous match on Friday. Still, their efforts were fruitless.

As in the previous encounter, the Indian players relied on quick counterattacks. This time, however, Indra's squad was more alert in dealing with the threat posed by Naushad Moosa's team.

In the 31st minute, Rayhan Hannan left the field due to injury. Arlyansyah Abdulmanan replaced him.

In the 40th minute, goalkeeper Daffa Fasha made a crucial save. He caught an Indian shot from outside the penalty box amid a scramble in front of his goal. At that point, the Indonesian defenders seemed to lack composure when anticipating the opponent's attack.

As the first half was coming to an end, Dony unleashed a powerful shot in the 41st minute. However, his shot went over, leaving the score at 0-0.

Second Half

Indian striker Suhail Ahmad Bhat, who scored two goals in the first match against Indonesia, entered at the start of the second half. He replaced Parthib Sundar. Muhammad Suhail F. also came on as a substitute for Mohammed Aimen.

Indra made another goalkeeper change for Indonesia, as he did in the first match. This time, Erlangga Setyo Dwi Saputra came on for Daffa Fasha. Up front, Hokky Caraka was replaced by Wigi Pratama. Captain Kadek Arel was replaced by Ahmad Rusadi, who handed the captain's armband to Dony.

Indonesia conceded a goal just as the second half began. Thingujam Korou Singh scored in the 46th minute off an assist from Harsh Palande. The score changed to 1-0 in India's favor.

After falling behind, Arkhan Fikri and his teammates tried to create chances to tie the game. However, they continued to struggle.

Indonesia had a golden opportunity to score on a free kick near the penalty box after Wigi Pratama was brought down by an Indian defender during an attack. They capitalized on the opportunity.

In the 70th minute, Dony, the executor, unleashed a powerful left-footed shot. The ball sailed over the Indian wall and into the left corner of the goal, leaving goalkeeper Chauhan Dipesh unable to save it. The score was tied at 1-1.

It was Dony's second goal. He had also scored in Indonesia's 1-2 defeat to India in their first match.

With 15 minutes left in normal time, Indra introduced five players, including Jens Raven. Then, in the 83rd minute, substitutions were made again, with Ricky Pratama and Brandon Marsel Scheunemann coming on.

No further goals were scored in the remaining time. The second match between Indonesia and India ended in a 1-1 tie.
