TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, urged the Indonesian government to consider withdrawing from the Board of Peace after Israel launched an attack on Lebanon. The attack on March 29 and 30 resulted in the deaths of three Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers.
"There's no longer any benefit in sitting together at the table to talk about peace, while at the same time these countries are increasingly escalating and continuously committing genocide," he said in a statement on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
He stated that Israel's attack on the peacekeeping forces involved in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission was inhumane. Furthermore, he mentioned that Israel has repeatedly violated international agreements and laws by carrying out such attacks.
The Deputy Chair of the House of Representatives' (DPR) Legislation Body stated that the country should express anger and condemnation over Israel's attack on the peacekeeping forces. According to Doli, Indonesia has consistently maintained world peace.
"Indonesia should be angry because this has already resulted in the loss of Indonesian citizens' lives," he said.
He also cautioned the executive branch to take a firm stance in response to the deaths of the three TNI soldiers. He said the government should work closely with the United Nations to end the war in the Middle East.
"The war has had an impact on all nations, including Indonesia, both economically and in terms of the physical loss of lives," Doli said.
Prior to this, the Israeli attack on the peacekeeping forces in Lebanon occurred on March 29, 2026. The explosion resulted in the death of Private Farizal Rhomadhon. Three other TNI soldiers were injured, namely, Private Rico Pramudia, Private Bayu Prakoso, and Private Arif Kurniawan.
A day later, an explosion in southern Lebanon claimed the lives of two TNI soldiers. The two casualties were Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan. Two other Indonesian soldiers were also injured, namely, Lieutenant Inf Sulthan Wirdean Maulana and Private Deni Rianto.
